Abu Dhabi exempts seven categories of people from COVID-19 vaccination

Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has approved seven categories of people who are exempt from having to get COVID-19 vaccinations in the UAE, but they must first officially apply for an exemption.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, and includes people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in another country.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, and Abu Dhabi health regulator, the Department of Health (DoH), detailed the exempt categories, urging those who wish to remain exempt from vaccination to visit an authorised medical centre in Abu Dhabi for medical evaluation. The centre will then submit a report to the DoH for approval.

Exempted groups

Among those who need not get the COVID-19 vaccine in Abu Dhabi include vaccine clinical trial participants, pregnant women, active COVID-19 patients, and those who have successfully overcome COVID-19. In addition, those who are severely allergic to COVID-19 vaccine components, as well as others who have diseases incompatible with the COVID-19 vaccine, can also apply for exemptions. All exemptions will only be granted following medical evaluation.

Approved exemption record

Once an exemption is approved by the DoH, the applicant will receive a text message, and a record of this will also show up on the applicant’s Alhosn app.
